Newsday reports three teenagers have been charged with the assault and robbery of a 17-year-old at a house party in Elmont early Saturday, Nassau police said.
When the male victim tracked down the teens, one of the suspects, Aaron Benton, 17, of Rosedale, Queens, menaced him with a dagger, police said.
The incident began about 12:30 a.m. during a party at a home on Emily Avenue. Benton, along with Daniel Smith, 19, of Washington Heights, Manhattan, Eurvyn Joyce, 18, of Rosedale, and an unknown male with a ponytail approached the victim and demanded his cellphone, police said.When the victim refused, the suspects punched him repeatedly and took the cellphone from his pocket, police said. The suspects then fled on foot and were followed by the victim, who confronted them on Dutch Broadway in Elmont.
The altercation intensified when Benton menaced the victim with a dagger, police said. Fourth Precinct police officers on patrol observed the incident, and the suspects fled on foot.
After an extensive search, they were located on Dutch Broadway and taken into custody at 12:45 a.m. The victim refused medical attention.
Benton has also been charged in a separate assault and robbery in Elmont that occurred at 11:30 p.m. Friday.
Police said Benton and a group of unknown males, including the ponytailed suspect from the house party, approached a 14-year-old male walking on Keegan Street in the vicinity of Dutch Broadway.
The suspects punched and kicked the victim and removed a cellphone from his pants pocket, police said. The suspects then fled on foot. The victim refused medical assistance.
Cellphones from both robberies were recovered, police said.
