Progressives don’t know much about the real world beyond the faculty lounge in college. That’s the reason their policies fail all the time. Ask the parents of murdered children in Chicago and Baltimore.
New York Post reports the father of one slain NYPD officer and the brother of another say a federal judge’s decision to clamp down on stop-and-frisk will make a cop’s job even more dangerous.“Crime will go up, without a doubt. The good people of the city will be the ones who suffer,” said Bob Figoski, a retired cop whose brother, Officer Peter Figoski, was fatally shot in December 2011 as he tried to stop a robbery in East New York, Brooklyn.“This will handcuff the police. It will make it easier for the criminals to move around the city with guns,” Figoski said. “Before, they were afraid of getting stopped. Now, they don’t have to worry.”Paul Schaberger, whose son, Officer Alain Schaberger, died when a career thug shoved him off a Brooklyn stoop in March 2011, also predicted the worst in the wake of the ruling, which the Bloomberg administration has vowed to appeal. Both men said Judge Shira Scheindlin’s conclusion that stop-and-frisk was a form of racial profiling was ludicrous.“My son was killed by a violent attack by a Hispanic male. Officer Figoski [was] killed by an African- American male using an illegal handgun. These actions are not cause to condemn an ethnic group or an entire community, but facts, as they say, are facts,” Schaberger said.
