Rush Limbaugh Interviews Sen. Mike Lee On Defunding ObamaCare

Sen. Mike Lee is rapidly making a name for himself as a conservative star the GOP base is hungering for.   

Rush rarely has in-studio guests at EIB.  But, Lee stopped in to discuss why it’s so important to defund parts of ObamaCare.

RUSH: We’re happy to welcome to our program Senator Mike Lee from Utah. He’s gonna bring us up-to-date on his effort here to lead the Republican Party in the Senate to attempting to defund Obamacare.  Senator, welcome.  Great to have you here.

LEE:  Thank you, Rush.  It’s a pleasure to be with you.

RUSH:  Tell me and everybody else what you’re trying to do because there are now people saying what you want to do can’t be done because so much of the spending is locked in.  I’ve read no, that’s not true.  And then, second question, I remain perplexed.  I mean, you got a majority of the American people that oppose this, and I don’t see the Republican Party trying to connect with them, outside of you and a couple others.  So a lot of this doesn’t make any sense to a whole lot of people.

LEE:  That’s right, it doesn’t make any sense to a whole lot of people outside the Washington Beltway.  You see, inside the Washington Beltway, this discussion is controversial.  Outside the Beltway, Obamacare is universally despised.  This is an issue, Rush, that is no longer just about Republican versus Democrat.  It’s no longer about liberal versus conservative.  This is about Washington, DC, versus everyone else.  This law is despised because it’s gonna make our health care unaffordable.  It’s also going to make health care unfair, because the president has said he’s gonna hold hardworking Americans to the line and punish them if they don’t comply with the law’s exacting demands, but he’s gonna give a big carve-out for Big Business.  Big Business doesn’t have to comply.  The American people shouldn’t have to put up with it. The president said he’s not ready to implement the law. We shouldn’t fund it.

They did it for Forbidden Love: Young couple commits double suicide jumping in front of LIRR train

Call it a 21^st century version of Romeo and Juliet—a young couple from Queens Village, New York leaped to their death for love!

Still this is a sad tale that leaves a 2 year old girl without a mother. 

New York Post reports a despondent young couple, under pressure to break off their romance, instead chose suicide in front of a speeding LIRR train — leaving behind a multipage note that said they were going to a better place, sources told The Post yesterday.

“Two great people” are going to “paradise,” they wrote in a blue stenographer’s pad that was found on the Hollis, Queens, platform after their death leap Monday night.

“Everything will be good,” the note said.

Davon Smallwood, 25, and Ariana O’Neal, 21 — whose mother disapproved of their relationship — lived in Queens Village with their 2-year-old daughter.

In addition to the note, the tragic couple also left behind a black garbage bag stuffed with clothing, a bottle of Gorgi vodka and a can of Coca-Cola.

The young lovers had no IDs, and cops had to run their fingerprints to get their names. Most of their suicide note was in “illegible gibberish,” the sources said. 

O’Neal recently ran away because her mother demanded she no longer bring Smallwood to the house, police sources said. 

The mom was upset over his recent trouble with the law.“Her mom didn’t want the boyfriend living with all of them,” her landlord, Kinsley Senior, said last night. “She didn’t like him.”

The two were arrested earlier this month for allegedly stealing jewelry from a Jamaica, Queens store. A neighbor said they both dyed their hair red recently.

Terri Simmons, who lives directly across from the station, said she had never seen Smallwood before, but often saw O’Neal moping around the area.

She would spend hours sitting on a urine-soaked stairway leading to the railroad platform.

Simmons, 50, said she approached the young woman several times to ask if she was all right, but she never even raised her head.

At around 10:15 p.m. Monday, Simmons heard a “boom” from the bodies’ impact with the Manhattan-bound express train, and ran to the station.

An MTA cop who responded to the scene read the first page of the notebook and said, “Oh, my God, it’s a suicide note!”

Here we go again! Oprah hosting fundraiser for Cory Booker

New Age Queen and has been King maker Oprah Winfrey is dipping her very big toe into the New Jersey Senate race.  The last time she did that, America got screwed with Barack Obama!

Politico reports Oprah Winfrey is lending her star power to Newark Mayor Cory Booker’s Senate bid.

The talk show queen is set to host a fundraiser for Booker in New Jersey on Thursday. The event, flagged by the Sunlight Foundation, will be held at Liberty House restaurant, and tickets start at $1,000.

Booker and Oprah have been pals for a while. The mayor made an appearance on Winfrey’s show “Oprah’s Next Chapter” last year. And Winfrey gushed about him in a Time magazine feature two years ago.

The Hillreports New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) on Tuesday escalated his feud with Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) by portraying the Tea Party favorite as a big-spending Washington establishment figure.

“Maybe he should start cutting the pork barrel spending he brings home to Kentucky,” Christie said at a press conference announcing monetary grants for homeowners affected by Hurricane Sandy. “But I doubt he will, because most Washington politicians only care about bringing home the bacon so that they can get reelected.”

Police ID couple that committed double suicide by jumping in front of LIRR train in Queens, suicide note found

Details are beginning to emerge about the mytery couple that committed double suicide by jumping in front of a LIRR train.

Police have identified the couple who leaped to their deaths in Queens in front of an LIRR train reports New York Daily News.

MTA police were withholding the names of the man and woman, both described as about 30, pending notification of their relatives, sources said.

They appeared to make the fatal jump together from a Hollis Ave. station platform Monday night.

Terri Simmons, who lives nearby, said detectives told her they found a suicide note.

Police are investigating whether two people struck and killed by a westbound Long Island Rail Road train Monday night had a suicide pact.

Authorities did not release any information about the victims hit between the Hollis Ave. and Jamaica Ave. stations in Queens at 10:18 p.m. Monday.
