Good cop goes bad!
A Washington state sheriff's sergeant was arrested Tuesday for allegedly getting sexual favors from the owner and manager of seven espresso stands called Java Juggs in exchange for information about an upcoming police raid according to the DailyMail.
Sgt. Darrell O'Neill, 58, a 30-year veteran of the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office, faces charges of conspiracy to promote prostitution and official misconduct. He has been placed on administrative leave pending an internal investigation.
Carmela Panico, the 51-year-old owner of the seven coffee huts in Snohonish County was arrested in the raid on charges of conspiracy to promote prostitution and permitting prostitution the station KING5 reported.
Panico pleaded guilty to misdemeanour charges of lewd conduct in 2011, when police busted three of her stands as part of a prostitution probe.
The 51-year-old has operated the Java Juggs chain since 2008, and she is also listed as the owner of several other local coffee stands, among them Twin Peaks and the Hottest Coffee Around, The Seattle Times reported.
Everett Police Department spokesman Aaron Snell said that six of the espresso huts raided were located in Everett and one in Kent. Most of the stands were along Highway 99.
Besides O'Neill and Panico, deputies also took into custody a 22-year-old Java Juggs manager and six baristas ranging in age from 21 to 24.
According to investigators, O’Neill had sex with Panico and one of her employees inside a coffee stand while he was on duty and in full uniform.
In October 2012, authorities launched an investigation into Panico and her business ventures after getting complaints from people about baristas who were allegedly exposing their private parts to customers.
Investigators set up surveillance cameras outside the coffee stands and sent in undercover officers to observe the interactions between the baristas and their clients in person.
According to police, employees at several of the stands were caught exposing their breasts and having sex inside their johns’ vehicles.
One barista told an undercover Kent officer that she preferred to work in Everett because she was able to put on more of a ‘show’ and be more ‘naughty,’ a search warrant said.
