After Trayvon Martin got shot dead by George Zimmerman, Martin supports frequently said, “He was only a teenager buying Skittles and Ice Tea!” It became a mantra that was repeated in the newspapers, the radio, and on television.
Being a teenager became a sort of blanket immunity from the idea that teenagers can never really pose a danger to anyone because they’re just teenagers. It was an emotional appeal used by Liberals to persuade and distract others away from facts.
So what is the truth?
The reality is that teenagers can be even more dangerous than adults because of their immaturity and raging hormones (see Top 10 Young Killers).
In the Bronx New York, a fourteen year old boy named Shaaliver Douse was shot dead by police officers for refusing to drop his gun. At nearly 3 am Douse had been chasing an unknown individual and shooting at him with his $375 handgun.
In response to the shooting Douse’s Aunt, Quwana Barcene, compared her nephew’s death to thekilling of Trayvon Martin, who was also just a teen.
Not all teenagers are dangerous. But, for the ones who are you better watch out.
